rabbits, and deer wander through on their daily rounds.

paradise with over 400 species flying through.

Wildlife Pond at the Black Heron Inn |
“With no noise except that of seabirds, morning hours pass with only the rustle of the wind and one’s own sighs as the fog retreats to reveal the fabulous view. This place is about quiet retreat.” — Louise Rafkin, San Francisco Chronicle, “96 Hours” Read entire article
Both the Black Heron Inn and its sister property
the Blackthorne
Inn were inspired by the Sunset book on “How
to build a deck” and the “Handmade Houses~A
Guide to the Wood butcher’s Art”. Creative
craftsmen using redwood, cedar and Douglas fir built this tall
structure taking advantage of the views in all directions.
Originally an artist’s studio, the Grand
View suite now provides guests with 270 degree views. All of
the Black Heron Inn’s bed and breakfast guest rooms provide
views reminiscent of the Impressionists’ paintings. Just
steps away, our guests may enter the Point Reyes National Seashore
wilderness park and experience Mother Nature in all her glory.

Perched upon a gentle bluff, the Black Heron Inn,
is home to stunning views.

On clear nights, the magic
of the sky lights up with the stars and the moon setting
over the Inverness Ridge. Experience nature’s planetarium
from your own deck, view the constellations and see the
Big Dipper, Cassiopeia, and Orion. Listen to the crickets,
the Great Horned Owls, and the tree frogs as you drift off
to sleep.
Awaken in the morning to an ever changing
view of Mother Nature’s choosing. Enjoy your breakfast,
overlooking the Point Reyes National Seashore from the privacy
of your guest room.
